NewInfo on the CT National Youth Poetry Slam Team 2008 Feature Schedule

NewThe Seventh Annual Touchstone Poetry Festival will be held at Touchstone, a residential treatment center for female juvenile offenders at 11 Country Place, Litchfield, on Thursday July 10 at 6:15 pm. Twenty powerful women poets, including Bessy Reyna, Pit Pinegar, Pamela Nomura, Marianela Medrano-Marra, , Sally Van Doren, “The Afrikana Madonna”,  Joanne Hayhurst and Athena Fliakos, will join the Touchstone girls reading in partnership at the mike. NEA Student Achievement Grant

The NEA Foundation is looking for PreK-12 teachers, education support professionals and higher education faculty and staff who promote classroom innovation and engage students in critical thinking, inquiry, and self-direct learning that deepens knowledge of standards-based subject matter. Deadline: June 1, 2008. Please contact Ms. Edith Wooten at ewooten@nea.org if you have any questions. The awards range from $2,000-$5,000.
