Winter Poetry from 2nd graders at Southeast Elementary School

Winter Dreams

In the house there is red, yellow fire.

There is a dog growling.

The snow is freezing cold.

There are small and big snowflakes.

There are beautiful and ugly snowflakes.

Animals are hiding.

by Harry S.

Winter Sounds

In the warm wintry house

You always hear

A Boom!  Boom! on the wall.

You never know what it is

Until you look outside

Through the frosty windowpanes.

But it's never there

What could it be?

by Jenise C.

Cold Winter

Houses are covered with snow.

Pine smells all over

Fresh air

Lights all over the trees

Ornaments hang on the windows.

Wind blows

Freezing me up

I feel cold.

Mists wipe over my face.

by Brittany O.

SPECIAL

So snowy, so cold

So icy, so bright

That's what Christmas is so right.

It's so fun.

Fun-duddy-doo

Let's all throw snowballs

And make snowmen

Like we used to do.

Winter is so

FUN!

by Bryan R.

It's Winter

It's winter.

It's cold.

The breeze of midnight trees

swish through the frost-bite wind.

The warm smoke from the house

swiffs mindlessly through my face.

A big Christmas tree

shines in the light.

by Marysia B.

Winter's

A big smell of warm rice

 And turkey

How could that smell be better

With undrawable patterns?

The warm light makes my heart jump

for joy

On this cold winter night

The windy breeze blew passed me.

I felt some soft snow trickle down my cheek.

by Merce T.

White of Snow

The scene of beauty

The scene of night

The lamps' yellow glow is bright.

I can hear the trotting of deer.

I can see the wind of frost.

The ground is a sea of snow.

by JoJo P.

White Winter

White

Dark

Misty

Yellow lights

Orange yellow fire

There is light

On the Christmas tree

Foggy

Beautiful lights.

by Katie O.

Winter Sense

Snow is falling

White as cotton.

Plop! When it hits the ground.

House as brown as tree wood

Big house

The light is as yellow as the sun.

The trees are white and green.

The path is covered with snow.

The pond is covered with ice.

by Andy M.

DARK

Dark

Is no light

You sit there

And think

In the dark

You walk

In the dark

Because there is no

Light

The power is out

When I'm in the dark

I feel good

I love the dark

by Sy'Keria W.

Snow

The snow is soft

When I come back inside

I drink hot chocolate

But I take a walk

out at night

in the drifty winds

and the snow so soft.

I feel the wind

going passed my face

It gives me the chills

I see the snow fluttering

passed me

I will never forget that

beautiful night.

by Breanna C.

Winter Cool

It feels cool.

I can't see the animals

hiding in the snow.

Hear the ice cracking.

I can see the light on

in the tree.

by Joo-Hyun W.

I see

There are two rock cabins

Snow in the scene

Snow white as cotton

Wreaths are up

There are trees

Covered in snow

Light reflects

Off the snow

by Eric B.

White snow Clear ice

White snow is good for snowboarding.

White snow is good for skiing.

White snow is the best

'cause you can ski and snowboard in it.

Clear ice is good for skating.

Clear ice is good for bobsledding.

Clear ice is the best

'cause you can skate and bobsled on it.

Poetry
by Ethan F.
Mrs. Latino's 4th grade

Poetry would be blue like silk
because it is very comforting and smooth.

It would smell like water
because water doesn’t have a smell
and you can write about anything.

It would taste sweet like Skittles.

It would sound like chalk against a chalkboard

because they go together
like the words in poetry.

Poetry

by Logan M.

If you could taste poetry,
it would taste like chocolate melting in your mouth.
If poetry was a color, it would be blue,
relaxing and gentle.
If poetry had a sound,
it would sound like a lullaby
making you go to sleep like a baby.

Poetry

by Surath F.

Poetry is as azure as the sky,
drifting into the next line for as long as desired.
Poetry is the laugh of a smiling face with happiness.
Poetry smells like the roasting of an incredible delicacy.
Poetry would feel like a spider’s web,

both complex,
and will catch the reader or prey.
Poetry would taste as delicious as an incredible dessert.

Anger
by Antonio L.

Anger,
red like fire
and griffons and phoenixes.

Also like red hot lava.

Anger looks like tornados

and smells like smoke

and tastes like fire ants.
